Does the Messenger Have Any Secret Shortcuts I Should Know About?
Yes, there are a number of simple keystrokes and mouse moves you can use to navigate quickly inside the Messenger. These helpful shortcuts are listed by the area where they can be used:
In General:
1) Use the TAB key to move the focus forward one field, or Shift+TAB keys to go in reverse.
2) When the light blue focus box is over the desired button, press the Spacebar to select / enter.
3) If you don't want to use any of the keyboard shortcuts below, you can always use the mouse.
In the TO: Mobile # Address Box:
1) Single clicking on a contact will open the Phonebook to show more info for that contact.
2) Double clicking on a contact will open the Edit Contact box, showing you the Mobile # and lets you to edit the contact info if necessary.
3) Use the Escape Key to close the Add New Contact or Edit Contact boxes.
4) Underlined Contacts in Red are marked Stop All - and will not go out.
5) Underlined Contacts in Brown are marked Stop Promotions - and will not go out if this is a Group
Send (i.e. the message is addressed to 6 or more contacts).
6) After you're finished in the TO: area, use the TAB key to move the cursor below where you can
compose your message.
In the Message Composition Box:
1) Press the Message button to erase unwanted characters and start over with a New Message.
2) Use the QuickText, Hi, Bye, My Info, 1st and Full Name Merge buttons to rapidly assemble your outbound Messages.
3) Send your messages quickly without having use your mouse by pressing the Control+Shift+Spacebar keys. If you are on a Mac, the keystroke would be Command+Shift+Spacebar to send your text. These also work for the ‘Set’ button on the Scheduled Send box.
In the Record:
1) Move your mouse over the top of the blue Queue title bar and you'll be able to grab the bar and make the Queue bigger or smaller as needed.
2) Click on the most recent in or outbound text bubble displayed for each contact in order to expand and view the conversation history.
3) Messages sent to 6 or more contacts are called Group Sends and their message bubbles will be stored underneath the current conversation bubble appearing for those contacts. Outbound Group Send messages are not considered part of a live, on-going conversation between two people - and will therefore be hidden from view.
4) Move your mouse over any message bubble and right-click to Select All of the text and then right-click Copy. This allows you to Cut & Paste text from inside a bubble into another application.
5) Open the Search window by clicking the magnifying glass in the Record title bar at the top of the Messenger.
6) At the top of the Search window, you'll see a purple down arrow called the Search History. This will store all previous searches from the current session for later reference.
In the Phonebook:
1) Use the [C] button on the Phonebook toolbar to clear all Phonebook filters, de-select all contacts and reset the Phonebook to the default view.
2) Use the Reload button on the Phonebook toolbar to get a fresh copy of your team’s Phonebook from the server. It helps to Reload your Phonebook after importing, assigning or sorting a lot of contacts.
3) To save a group of contacts for later use: First (+) add and label a new My Group. Next, select (mouse click) on all the contacts you want to add to this Group, then use your mouse to Drag & Drop them into the new My Group.
In the Preference Area:
1) Use your mouse to drag the QuickText rows into the desired order. Move the most frequently used QuickTexts to the top of your list so you can access them faster when composing your messages.
2) Team Administrators can set the TextMaster order in the same way: Use your mouse to sort the User Profile rows into the desired TextMaster order. Move the Users you want to be TextMasters most often to the top of the list. See Tutorial 10
3) Use the Return key to add extra line spaces (paragraph returns) to your QuickTexts, HotKeys and Promotions. Use your up and down keys to navigate through these extra lines.
4) QuickText & HotKey fields are limited to 459 characters - the length of 3 joined texts. Promotional text fields are limited to 160 characters.
