Who is the TextMaster and What do they do?

Anyone on your team with iViP Administrator privileges can turn on TextMaster status for their teammates. The TextMaster switch can be found next to each user's name that is listed on the Preferences > Profile > User Profile tab. Think of the TextMaster as the person who sits at the front desk in your office. They screen incoming calls and direct each call to the appropriate person who can answer their question. And if that person is not at their desk, the call is routed back to the central operator to be re-assigned or told when their desired account manager will be back in the office.

In iViP, the TextMaster is the default person to receive inbound texts from contacts that have not yet been assigned to a particular user. Unanswered texts will also be routed after a couple of minutes to the acting TextMaster for further handling. Because there can only be one active TextMaster at a time, the system will automatically give TextMaster status to the highest user (appearing on the top of the User Profiles list) who is currently logged-in. Your team Administrator is responsible for ranking the order by which users are given the TextMaster role. If the active TextMaster logs out (or goes into Away mode), the system will automatically give TextMaster status to the next highest ranked user on the list.

Best practice when setting up your team is to give the TextMaster role to as many users as possible. This way, even if just one person is left logged-in at the end of the workday, the system will still have someone to whom it can route any unanswered texts. This is how the system is designed to operate by default. If you do not give the TextMaster role to enough users, then there may be instances when inbound texts will fail to be seen by someone on your team, even though there are users still logged into the Messenger. If there are no TextMasters available, then inbound texts from contacts who are not yet assigned to a particular user will have no where to go.

Each user can customize their personal Automator settings by going to their Preferences > Automator window. You can choose to not participate in this automatic route-to-TextMaster feature described above by turning your Routing Off. You can also specify up to 3 other teammates (besides the TextMaster) who would be better qualified to answer your inbound texts when you are not available.
